St. Denis, Versailles
History & Description
St. Denis traces its origin back to 1839 with the founding of St. Valbert by Fr. Louis Navarron, who was the first pastor. It was founded by the French speaking Catholics of the area which includes Frenchtown, Russia, Versailles, Newport, and North Star. In 1864 the Versailles residents bought the Baptist Church in town and moved their community there and renamed it St. Denis.
